Velour is a rich looking cotton fabric with a thick, light absorbing pile. It is generally the most desirable fabric for stage curtains. Velour fabric is available in several weights ranging from 16oz to 32oz. As the back side of velour is susceptible to wear and abrasion, it is suggested that all velour drapes be lined with either Denim or Ranger Cloth.
25oz Velour with its rich, long nap, is durable and opaque with good sound absorbing qualities. Most frequntly used for Grand Drapes and teasers in major theatrical venues, velour is most beautiful and dramatic when sewn with fullness not less than fifty percent.
