Dominguez Hills, CA - The very word "Kabuki" implies a style of dramatic theater outside of the commonplace. One of the most dramatic and versatile drapes among the many collections from theatrical drapes rental supplier Rent What? Inc., is the solenoid-released Kabuki drop. This unique curtain system has the capability of suddenly dropping from above to conceal the scene on stage, or releasing completely to the floor to reveal what's behind it.
In recent months, Rent What? has been called upon to rent their Kabuki drapes for an unusual array of events and purposes, including the unveiling of an entire airplane.
"We've used our Kabuki drapes for planes, trains and automobiles - quite literally," said Rent What? partner Megan Duckett. "We're surprised how completely this drape is catching on, and not just for performers."
Automobile manufacturers are now regularly revealing their new models at car shows with the drop of Kabuki drapes. So too are the builders of aircraft. Ms. Duckett says that even municipalities have employed Kabuki drapes. One recent example was a town that used the drape to unveil a new statue on the steps of its city hall.
To accommodate these oversized presentations, Rent What? has provided Kabuki drop rental with drapes as large as 60 feet high by 120 feet wide, along with the accompanying solenoid release systems. |

At the same time, Kabuki drapes still remain very much an impressive presence on the stage at many concerts. Pop singer Enrique Iglesias makes his dramatic entrance from behind one of Rent What?'s Kabuki drapes in every show. Other famous Kabuki players include Alice in Chains, Brooks and Dunn, Jay-Z and Maxwell.
"It's all about drama," added Ms. Duckett. "At the push of a button, these drapes are suddenly set in motion and the effect is both immediate and powerful. Because the Kabuki can be used to either conceal or reveal, or both, it's one of the most versatile drapes in our large rental inventory."
