CARY, NC – Monica Smiley, publisher and CEO of Enterprising Women Magazine has announced that Megan Duckett, President of Sew What? Inc. is a 2008 Enterprising Women of the Year Award Finalist. Originally from Melbourne, Australia, she started her small craft business on the kitchen table in 1992. In just over a decade, she has grown Sew What? Inc. into a major presence in the theatrical drapery industry. Sew What? Inc. is a nationally respected Theatrical Drapery Manufacturer and Custom Sewing Service working with the entertainment industry, special events, and trade show exhibit circuits. They also manufacture stage curtains for elementary, middle and high schools, community colleges and professional theaters. Their drapery and fabric projects have been showcased at major rock concert venues, theatrical productions, fashion shows, conference halls, and even at gubernatorial inaugurations.
The Enterprising Women of the Year Award honors the country’s finest women entrepreneurs and their remarkable success. The award also recognizes honorees as leaders who have mentored and given back to other women in business, and have had a profound impact on their communities. Award recipients will be honored at a gala dinner on Feb. 29 at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa in Lake Buena Vista, FL as part of a three-day celebration held in their honor. |
